Happy Streets Returns to Bengaluru A Breath of Fresh Air for City Life

Bengaluru’s cool spirit came alive once again as Happy Streets returned on May 4, 2025, bringing joy, fitness, and community connection back to the roads of Konanakunte.

Presented by The Times of India and Bhima Jewellers, this much-loved event turned the city’s busy streets into car-free zones filled with laughter, movement, and harmony from 7 AM to 10 AM.

A Morning of Wellness and Energy

The event kicked off with a peaceful yoga session led by Sarvebhavantu Sukinah Yoga, setting a calm tone for the morning. This was followed by an electrifying Zumba session conducted by Manoranjini Karunagaran, drawing a crowd eager to move and dance together in the open air. These sessions gave residents in Bangalore a healthy and refreshing start to their Sunday.

Learning to Save Lives

One of the highlights of the event was a CPR and first-aid training session by ALERT, a non-profit organization dedicated to emergency response awareness. Young adults and teenagers enthusiastically participated, learning essential life-saving skills that could one day make a real difference.

A Street Full of Smiles for Children

With no vehicles in sight, children had the freedom to enjoy activities like skating, cycling, hula hooping, and interactive games. Parents watched as their kids ran freely, played joyfully, and made new friends—something rarely seen on regular city roads. The initiative brought neighborhoods together and created a safe, fun-filled environment for all age groups.

Music, Community, and City Pride

The event concluded on a high note with a live performance by the Garden City Students Band. Their upbeat tunes and crowd engagement left everyone smiling and proud of the community spirit that defines Bengaluru.

Locals appreciated the break from traffic and pollution, and many called for such events to be held more regularly.

Happy Streets proved once again that reclaiming public spaces, even temporarily, has the power to transform urban life. It reminded everyone that a healthier, happier city starts with its people coming together.
